505Kitchen is a special passion-project to me. It began during my time at university when a house of first-generation college students with Palestinian, Persian, Filipino, and Belgian-Japanese roots got together… and when you have a house that was brought up to appreciate food, something delicious is bound to happen.
What started as a Sunday night dinner tradition between my housemates and me, ended up becoming much more. It became the center of my senior project, and more importantly, it became a community, a brand, and a celebration of cultures.
To document our recipes and stories, 505Kitchen: a cookbook, was created to tell the story of bringing people together. From designing the structural layout, to photographing the food, to then printing and binding the book in-house, creating this cookbook and documenting the unique story of my university home encompassed everything I had learned from my studies and more.
Below is the process and journey of, 505Kitchen: a cookbook.
